Shane and Katie opened Wagging Tails in 2022, bringing a long-time dream to life. Their story together began in 2015, when they discovered a shared passion for owning a business and serving pets and their people. For Katie, opening a pet shop in Colchester, CT was a natural next step. She had previously managed PetValu in town and built a strong connection with the local pet community. Katie’s deep industry knowledge, paired with Shane’s background in sales and marketing for large corporations, created the perfect foundation to launch Wagging Tails—a local pet shop designed to offer expert guidance, friendly service, and high-quality products for you and your pets.

Wagging Tails Pet Shop simply wouldn’t exist without the guidance, encouragement, and love of our parents. From early lessons about responsibility and cheering us on as we took the leap into small business ownership, they’ve been behind us every step of the way.
They helped shape our work ethic, our values, and our love for animals. Whether it was offering advice, helping us move shelving, watching the kids, or just listening on the tough days, their support has been a constant.
We are deeply grateful to Sam, Nancy, John, and Darlene for the countless ways they’ve supported us throughout our lives and for the important role they played in making this dream a reality.
